Automation
Block of Gunpowder
Craft a Gunpowder Block from 9 gunpowder (4 if Quark is present). The block will obey gravity like sand and gravel, and if it touches lava, it will dissolve into air.
Block of Sugar
Craft a Sugar Block from 9 sugar. The block will obey gravity like sand and gravel, and if it touches water, it will dissolve into air.
Redstone Lantern
Craft iron nuggets around a redstone torch to create a Redstone Lantern. The lantern lights when it receives a redstone signal from neighbouring blocks.
Redstone Sand
Craft redstone around a sand block to create Redstone Sand. It falls like sand and emits a signal like a Redstone Block.
Decoration
Block of Ender Pearls
Craft a Block of Ender Pearls from 9 ender pearls. If a silverfish burrows into an Ender Pearl Block, it will turn into an Endermite. Eating a Chorus Fruit will teleport you to the nearest Ender Pearl Block rather than a random location. Both features are configurable.
Bookcases
A bookshelf that has 18 inventory slots for storing books. It provides the same enchanting power as a normal bookshelf and can be crafted from each of the 8 vanilla wood types.
The texture will change as books are added or removed.
Contents can be measured using a comparator, outputting a signal based on the number of filled slots rather than the quantity of items.
Candles
Candles are made from beeswax and have a lower ambient light than torches. By default, candles must be lit using a flint and steel.
Beeswax is produced by smelting Honey combs.
Coral Sea Lanterns
Craft a sea lantern with coral to create a sea lantern of the coral's color.
Crates
Crates offer a smaller storage solution than a chest or barrel with the benefit of being transportable, making it an early-game alternative to shulkerboxes.
Crates are also available in all vanilla wood variants.
The contents can be measured using a comparator, like a vanilla chest.
Gold Bars
Gold bars are crafted with gold ingots in the same shape as the vanilla iron bars recipe.
If Quark is present, this feature is disabled by default.
Gold Chains
Gold chains are crafted with gold ingots and nuggets in the same shape as the vanilla iron chains recipe.
Gold Lanterns
A Gold Lantern is crafted with gold nuggets around a torch.
The Gold Soul Lantern can be crafted using gold nuggets around a soul torch.
Random animal textures
Chickens, Cows, Pigs, Squids and Wolves may spawn with alternate textures. Some of the wolf textures were kindly contributed by jupiter1930 and All_My_Own_Trash.
If Quark is present, chickens, cows, and pigs are disabled by default.
Smooth Glowstone
Smooth Glowstone.
Variant Barrels
Barrels of each type of vanilla wood can be crafted using the respective wood planks and slabs. These extra barrels work with Quark's drop-off and sort features.
Vanilla Barrels are still available, crafted with a mix of wood types. Only vanilla barrels work as a Fisherman villager job site.
Variant Bookshelves
Bookshelves of each type of vanilla wood can be crafted using the respective wood planks and a bookshelf. The variants provide the same enchanting power as a normal bookshelf.
If Quark is present, this feature is disabled by default.
Variant Chests
Chests of each type of vanilla wood can be crafted using the respective wood planks.
Vanilla Chests are still available, crafted with a mix of wood types.
If Quark is present, this feature is disabled by default.
Variant Ladders
Ladders of each type of vanilla wood can be crafted using the respective wood plank with sticks. The vanilla ladder is still available using the default vanilla recipe.
If Quark is present, this feature is disabled by default.
Mobs
Beacons heal friendly mobs
A beacon with the secondary effect of Regeneration will heal all tamed, friendly, and neutral mobs in the area around it.
Beekeepers
Beekeepers are villagers that trade beekeeping items. Their job site is the beehive.
Villages have the chance to spawn with dedicated beekeeper houses.
Cave Spiders drop cobwebs
A cave spider has a chance to drop a cobweb when killed.
Chickens drop feathers
Sometimes chickens drop a feather instead of laying an egg. After dropping a feather, the amount of time until another egg or feather drops is reduced by half.
Vegan friendly!
Coral Squid
Coral Squid hang out around coral in warm ocean biomes. They come in 5 different colors and have a chance to drop the corresponding coral color when killed - but you would never dream of killing such a cute little squidlet, right?
Endermite Powder
Endermite Powder has a chance of being dropped from Endermites when killed by a player. Right-click while holding it in the End to help locate an End City.
Husk improvements
Husks can now spawn underground in their biomes and also have a chance to drop sand when killed.
Lumberjacks
Lumberjacks are villagers that trade wooden items. Their job site is the Woodcutter.
Villages have the chance to spawn with dedicated lumberjack houses.
Mooblooms
The Moobloom is a flower-covered variant of the mooshroom. They spawn in Flower Forest biomes and come in a number of colors and flower varieties. As they wander, they have a chance of planting a flower of the type they are covered with.
Bees will try and pollinate nearby mooblooms, causing an additional flower to appear on the moobloom's head. Once pollinated, you may milk a moobloom using a bowl to obtain a suspicious stew of the type of flower that the moobloom is covered with.
Parrots stay on shoulder
Parrots now stay on the player's shoulder when jumping or falling. To remove a parrot, just crouch.
Remove Nitwits
Prevents nitwits from spawning as new villagers. It also converts any nitwits to unemployed villagers in nearby areas.
Sheared Sheep show their color
When a sheep is dyed and then sheared, the wool patches that are seen on the sheep show the actual wool color. By default all sheared sheep appear white, regardless of their actual color.
This feature has been ported from Bedrock Edition.
Snow Golem derp faces
This is part of the Variant Mob Textures feature. Snow Golems can spawn with different "derp" faces, visible when you shear the pumpkin from their head.
Stray improvements
Strays can now spawn underground in their biomes and also have a chance to drop blue ice when killed.
Tamed animals no damage
Tamed animals no longer take direct damage from players. They still can suffer secondary effects, such as potion effects from a tipped arrow.
If you are in Creative Mode, this feature is bypassed.
Villagers follow emerald blocks
Villagers are attracted when the player holds a block of emeralds.
If Quark is present, this feature is disabled by default.
Wandering Trader Improvements
Wandering Traders only spawn when there is a signal fire (i.e., a campfire with a hay bale beneath) nearby. They also sell maps to structures and biomes.
A configuration option is available to make Wandering Traders spawn more frequently.
Witches drop luck
A witch has a slight chance to drop a Potion of Luck when killed by a player.
Smithing
Acquisition Enchantment
A tool with the Acquisition enchantment adds block drops straight to your inventory. This enchantment may also be added to shears.
Anvil Improvements
Removes minimum and maximum XP costs on the anvil. No more "Too Expensive."
Anvils are also 50% less likely to become damaged when used.
Decrease Repair Cost
Combine a tool or armor with a Netherite nugget on an anvil to reduce its repair cost.
Extend Netherite
Increases the lifetime of Netherite-based items before they despawn.
Extract enchantments from any enchanted item into an empty book on a grindstone. The enchanted item will be destroyed in the process.
Credit to martenschaefer for partial use of the grind-enchantments
code.
Netherite Nuggets
Netherite can be broken into nuggets, and netherite nuggets can be combined to create a netherite ingot. Use a Netherite nugget to reduce the repair cost of tools and armor on an anvil.
Tinted Enchantment
A tool with the Tinted enchantment may be combined with a dye on the anvil to change the enchantment glint color. This also works for lodestone compasses, allowing you to color-code destinations.
Bat in a Bucket
Right-click a bat with an empty bucket to capture it (if you can!) and get the Bat in a Bucket. Right-click to release the captured bat, causing the outline of all entities around you to be visible for a moment.
Glowballs
Combine a snowball with glowstone dust to get a glowball. You can throw it like a snowball and it will leave a little glowing blob where it impacts.
Raid Horns
A Raid Horn may be used to cancel a village raid that is in progress. When there is no raid in progress, blowing a raid horn will call a wandering pillager patrol group to spawn nearby.
The Raid Horn has a 5% chance to drop from a patrol leader.
Woodcutters
The woodcutter is a functional block that adds more efficient recipes for crafting wooden items.
Tweaks
Music improvements
When a music disc plays in a jukebox, background music will be stopped and prevented from playing so that you don't get two tracks playing at the same time.
Creative background music may now play in survival mode. In addition, the delay between ambient music tracks has been shortened.
Armor invisibility
Leather and chaimmail armor is now completely invisible and does not increase mob awareness when drinking a Potion of Invisibility, giving you a bit more protection while you ninja.
Automatic recipe unlock
All recipes will be available on login. This was the first feature written for 1.14 before Quark was developed as I couldn't live without it. Quark's implementation is better, so this feature will automatically disable itself if Quark is present.
Campfires no damage
Campfires no longer damage mobs. By default, Soul Campfires still cause damage.
Dirt to Path
Right-clicking dirt with a shovel turns it into grass path.
If Quark is present, this feature is disabled by default.
Feather Falling on crops
A player wearing feather falling enchanted boots will not trample crops.
Hoe Harvesting
Right-click with a hoe to quickly harvest and replant a fully-grown crop.
If Quark is present, this feature is disabled by default.
Inventory tidying
A button to automatically stack and tidy inventories.
If Quark is present, this feature is disabled by default.
Path to Dirt
Right-clicking on a grass path block with a hoe turns it back into dirt.
Portable Crafting
If you have a crafting table in your inventory, you can open the 3x3 crafting grid with an inventory button or by pressing the V
key (configurable in control settings) without having to place the crafting table down.
Remove potion glint
Removes the enchanted glowing effect from potions, so you can actually see their true color.
Remove Spyglass scope
[1.17 only] Removes the dark outer overlay when zooming in with the spyglass, giving you the full view.
Shulker Box tooltips
Hovering over a filled Shulker Box in the inventory shows a tooltip with the contents.
If Quark is present, this feature is disabled by default.
Sleep improvements
By default only one player needs to sleep in order to end the night.
In addition, a configuration option has been added for the sleep animation to be finished more quickly.
If Quark is present, this feature is disabled by default.
Stackable enchanted books
Enchanted books of the same type can stack up to 16.
Stackable potions
Potions, water bottles, potion bases (mundane, awkward etc) and their splash/lingering varieties can stack up to 16, making them sortable and more convenient to carry around.
Use Totem of Undying from inventory
As long as a Totem of Undying is in your inventory (rather than specifically your main- or off-hand) it will be consumed to protect you from death.
World
Mineshaft improvements
Adds more ores and items to vanilla mineshafts.
- The central room has rare ores such as diamond.
- Corridors have more coal and iron ores as well as some gold.
- Lanterns and hanging lanterns appear.
- You can also find TNT and loot crates.
More village biomes
Villages now have a chance to appear in the following biomes:
- Jungles
- Bamboo Jungles
- Snowy Taiga
- Ice Spikes
- Swamps
Villagers spawning in these extra biomes will use their correct biome texture, including the unused textures for Jungle and Swamp villagers.
Snow Storms
During a thunderstorm in a snowy biome, snow layers will increase over time.
Locations that snow is normally not able to be placed, such as next to a light source, will support snow layers being added for the duration of the storm.
